Our story
Our organization is called the Ethnic-musical group of the Panganoti Cimbri and was founded in 1998 by Fausto Albertini. Its current seat is in Novaglie, a little town in our valley: the Valpantena.
Our musical group originated a long time before its official foundation and its music is rooted in the musical tradition which
has developed all through the centuries in the area where we live.
To tell the truth it is meant to continue the work of a group of musicians who were active in Princess Sissi's villa
(situated in Novaglie) at the time when Verona was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire ruled by Franz Joseph of Habsburg.
After the Austrian patrons left, the group split up and some musicians moved to the court of Villa Balladoro ( situated
at the foot of Novaglie), where they stayed till the First World War.
The earl Arrigo Balladoro was one of the main European folklore researchers and had managed to keep the musical tradition
alive through the work of his musicians. After his death in 1927 though, everything sank into oblivion.
During the 50s the music teacher Mario Grassi ( Fausto Albertini's teacher) attempted occasionally to bring the ensemble back
together, but the first musical group formed only during the 80s while the official foundation of the organization
occurred in 1998.
Since then the organization has expanded more and more (not without difficulties to overcome) and has broadened its research on many fields of the human knowledge ranging from History to Philosophy, from Music to Symbology, from linguistic research to the restoration of traditional musical instruments.
The organization has performed many concerts around Italy and in Europe, moreover it has taken part in many folklore festivals such as the Europeade and the festival of Saint-Chartier.
Finally the authorities of the Region Veneto have registered our organization in the Regional register of the organizations for social promotion with the classification AVR 43 by means of a decree (num.75 issued on the 07/08/2002)
